17 Classic Songs That Gorgeously Capture Motherhood

Everyone loves music. It bonds people of all generations and backgrounds together. One of my first memories was listening to music with my parents–my dad was (and still is) a huge Elvis Presley fan, and my mom introduced me to amazing bands and musicians like Fleetwood Mac, Janis Joplin, and The Doors.

As a huge music fan (I do everything to music), I realized I had fodder for a list of all the classic songs about moms throughout the ages. Some celebrate motherhood and some, well, are a little more complicated. But that makes them even better.

Here are some of my favorites:

1. Kate Bush – “Mother Stands for Comfort”

2. Tori Amos – “Mother”

3. Patty Griffin – “Burgundy Shoes”

4. 2Pac – “Dear Mama”

5. Ozzy Osbourne – “Mama I’m Coming Home”

6. The Rolling Stones – “Mother’s Little Helper”
