Rachel Figueroa-Levin grew up in a formerly interfaith family (her father converted from Catholicism to Judaism when she was 19) on Staten Island. Rachel blogs for, edits, and manages a hyperlocal Inwood NYC website, runs a successful soap-making micro business, is the co-founder and marketing director of Urban Babywearing, and is a parenting and technology writer for her personal blog as well as others. She was famous for about 10 minutes once for creating the (gone viral) @elbloombito twitter parody account. Rachel lives with her husband, daughter, and a small menagerie of critters in Inwood, the up-and-coming neighborhood at the tippy top of Manhattan.

Adi is getting older (20 months on July 7th) and she's developing an attention span and she's starting to be able to sit through things.

Because I can't seem to get over my current haggadah. From Maxwell House. I grew up with them. You know the ones. They were in a stack at Waldbaum's every spring… >> Read More
My father’s family is very large.
My mother’s family, like too many post-pogrom and WWII Jewish immigrant families, is very very VERY small. My recently deceased grandfather was the last of…his surname. My mother put up with constant bullying, and my brother and I tried to sort through… >> Read More

My 15-month-old…daughter, Adi, is kosher. How can a 15-month-old keep kosher? I keep her that way. But it's not sustainable. My husband and I are pretty secular, and neither of us grew up in particularly kosher homes, so porking out on porky pork pork pork comes more natural to us than looking for the little o-u on… >> Read More
