Rosh Hashanah Resolution: Good Things, More Often

To gear up for the High Holidays this year, we’re asking our writers and readers for their Rosh Hashanah Resolution. Here’s one from our writer Elissa Strauss.

Most years I sit back and consider all the things I can do better, you know, as the tradition goes. But this year I am thinking of trying to do good things, more often. Specifically, I would like to make a point of making sure I let the people who I love and admire know it more often. I know this isn’t traditional repentance, but I would like to think that by focusing on doing more good I am acknowledging all the time I spend on jealousy, judgement, and resentment.

Perhaps this is because I am so exhausted by the first year of parenting that I just don’t have the energy to go too deep. Or maybe, on a more positive note, it is because being a parent has made the world so much brighter and I want to make sure I am actively sharing that light.

Got your own resolutions? Tweet them @Kveller with the hashtag #RoshRes.
