Introducing the Book of the Month: Bim and Bom

We are very excited to announce that Kveller has partnered with The PJ Library, an organization that brings free Jewish-themed books and music to children across the country. A new book will be featured each month that we feel our readers (and more importantly, their kids!) will truly enjoy.

We’re getting the ball rolling with our January book, Bim and Bom: A Shabbat Tale, a 15-year old book that has been reprinted with some modern updates. Amy Meltzer has written up her thoughts on the book and discusses when it’s necessary to give some outdated books and traditions a contemporary makeover, versus when it’s best to just leave the classics alone. Click here to read the full story, and then comment below to discuss the book with others.

And for those of you who are not familiar with The PJ Library, besides being a wonderful program that distributes free (free!) content to Jewish families, they originally got the idea for the organization from the Queen of Country herself, Miss Dolly Parton. (Not from “I Will Always Love You,”  but from her Imagination Library, a literacy program that distributes books to inner-city children.) Fun fact!

Be sure to stay tuned for the next book of the month, and happy reading!
