Lena Dunham Left Paul Ryan a Voice Mail About Steve Bannon, ‘As a Woman, As a Jew’

lena dunham

In case anyone forgot, Speaker of the House Paul Ryan is a public servant, which means he is accountable to the public. This is why Jewish actress and writer Lena Dunham decided to give Speaker Ryan a call to voice her concern about the appointment of Breitbart News’ Steve Bannon as chief strategist and senior council to the future president, Donald Trump.

Not surprisingly, Ryan didn’t answer the phone, so Dunham left a voice message instead. And she posted a video of her making the call on Instagram (because she is a millennial, after all) in which she said:

“I’m not sure you’re really going to listen to this. But I hope you do, because I want to let you know that as a woman, as a Jew, as a person who cares about other human beings, people of color, the idea of pointing an anti-Semitic white supremacist … ”

Dunham also included Ryan’s phone number to encourage others to do the same. You can listen to the full voicemail yourself below:
