J Town: Baltimore’s Jewish Indoor Kids’ Play Space

Let’s face it: Despite the hordes of stimulating toys and activities you have most likely amassed in your time as a parent, sometimes you need to get out of the house and let your little ones burn off some energy. Or maybe you just need a change in scenery.

As Baltimore residents, we know that there are many days and months of the year when the playground just isn’t an option. And even when it IS finally nice enough to play outside, you might want to switch things up a bit. That’s where J Town comes in.

J Town is the new, indoor, Jewish play space opened in December 2014 located in the Weinberg Park Heights JCC. At J Town, your little one can:

Read and check out books at the PJ Library

Pretend to make Shabbat dinner in the play house

Explore the baby-safe mini garden

Strut his or her stuff on the stage

“Shop” at the miniature pet store, bagel store, and grocery

While the kiddos run around and play, YOU might even have a chance to schmooze with another adult and talk about parenting (or the latest shows on Netflix).

J Town also features the following regular, ongoing programs:

Tot Shabbat

Celebrate Shabbat at J Town every Friday from 11 a.m. – Noon.* Listen to Shabbat stories, sing songs, and enjoy a grape juice and challah snack while learning the special Shabbat blessings. No experience or prior knowledge required to join in the fun! Open to all.

Mother Goose on the Loose Story Time

Mother Goose on the Loose is a nursery rhyme-based program that incorporates songs, puppets, rhymes, and musical instruments–all with a Jewish twist! This program is best for children from birth through age 3 and their caregivers, and meets on the 1st Thursday of the month at 11 a.m.*

Around the World

Take a virtual trip around the world and learn about a new place each month by listening to stories, learning new words, exploring the map, learning about the local Jewish community and customs, and tasting traditional foods. Recent countries “visited” include Russia, Ethiopia, and France.

J Town is located in the:
