In Pittsburgh, Stars of Hope Bring Comfort to the Community

Stars of Hope

On the police barricades outside the Pittsburgh synagogue hang stars painted with messages of love and support for the Pittsburgh community.

In Pittsburgh, just days after the awful synagogue shooting, we spoke with Jeff Parness, the founder of the Stars of Hope organization.

His young son started Stars of Hope as a mitzvah day project in 2007, and since then, they have helped 200+ communities impacted by disaster and tragedy. As their site explains, “When disaster strikes, we deploy Stars of Hope to lift the spirits of survivors and serve as beacons of compassion throughout impacted communities.”
