New (Jewish) year, new trailer for season three of “Nobody Wants This”!
In the approximately two-minute long video, fans of the hit Netflix show find themselves right where things left off in the season two finale. Noah and Joanne are generally doing well! They have just moved in together and Joanne is pursing conversion to Judaism. “I heard about you,” Joanne’s conversion class nemesis Sebastien (Andrew Rannells) tells her. “You know, the hot rabbi blew up his life to be with you.” Joanne, incredulous, retorts, “Uh, our story is a little bit more nuanced and much more romantic than that.”
“Mmkay,” Sebastian knowingly smiles. (A man of the people!)
The trailer seems to imply the nuance and romance for this season will be how Noah deals with his continuing job search and how Joanne fares in both the conversion process and Bina’s newfound interest in making her the ideal rebbetzin. (Or, as Joanne pronounces it in the trailer, re-bit-sin.)
We also get a glimpse at Sasha and Esther’s life post-shocking season two finale break-up. “I want to discover myself,” Esther tells Sasha, who despite saying he isn’t interested in that, is seen wearing a Kangol on a date with a new woman. “You got to get out there,” Joanne’s dad Henry advises. “Eff around! Shave your entire body! Live a little!”
Beyond Andrew Rannells, the trailer gives a taste of some of the season’s other new, celebrity guest stars. Sarah Silverman gets to introduce her Rabbi Eden, and we see a split second of Keyla Monterroso Mejia as conversion classmate Amber as well as Erin Foster’s “terminally single” and “chaotic mess” Nicole. As for guest stars Sadie Sandler, Avan Jogia, Poorna Jagannathan, Stephanie Koenig and Steven Weber, we have yet to see them in action.
What does all of this mean? We’ll have to wait until the Oct. 22 release date to find out! In the meantime, we’ll be looking at these behind-the-scenes photos.
