Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

For as long as I can remember, my favorite part of Passover has been the hard boiled egg. Does that speak to my love of hard boiled eggs or the dull nature of my seder growing up? Who can say? (Fun fact: I didn’t realize seders were supposed to be fun until I went to a friend’s in college.)

Either way, it didn’t help my case for Judaism having the superior spring holiday when I countered my classmates’ brags about the Easter Bunny with, “Well, my parents let me eat an invisible man’s hard boiled egg after he didn’t show up for dinner.”

Regardless, I still love a hard boiled egg. As a certified fan, I feel qualified to tell you that you need my favorite kitchen gadget for Passover — especially if you’re hosting seder and in charge of boiling and peeling dozens of eggs.

Allow me to introduce you to the rapid egg cooker.

People will tell you that making hard boiled eggs on the stove is easy, and I’m going to respectfully disagree. I’ve never consistently made a perfect batch, but with this gadget — which can do seven eggs at a time — I’ve never not made a perfect, easily peelable egg. For me, it’s worth it, and maybe it will be for you, too.

Once you’ve made your eggs, quickly and painlessly peeled them, and set them out on the seder plates, what will you do with the extras? I have a few suggestions for you below, including an egg chandelier because life is short and your seder probably needs more whimsy.

If my parents really loved me, they would have gotten me and my buddy Elijah a matching set of these.
