Five Released Israeli Hostages Visit the Set of the New Season of ‘Fauda’

It was "a moving visit from heroes who returned from hell," co-creator and "Fauda" star Lior Raz said.

PETACH TIKVAH, ISRAEL - FEBRUARY 4: Freed hostages from Hamas captivity (from R) Daniela Gilboa, Liri Elbag, Agam Berger, Karina Ariev and Naama Levy form hearts with their hands during a performance at Beilinson hospital on February 4, 2025 in Petach Tikvah, Israel. Daniella Gilboa, Agam Berger, Karina Ariev, Liri Albag and Naama Levy, the five female Israeli soldiers who were captured by Hamas on October 7 from their base in Nir Oz and released earlier this year in the second hostage deal, visited the set of “Fauda” this week.

The smash hit thriller about a covert unit of Israeli operatives is currently shooting its fifth season, one that was completely reimagined after October 7. Show co-creator Avi Issacharoff shared a picture of the girls on set.

“A moving visit from heroes who returned from hell,” co-creator and “Fauda” star Lior Raz said. “We can not forget the rest of the hostages who remain in Gaza. We have to do everything we can to free them.”

Raz previously visited the girls soon after their release from captivity. The entire cast and crew were reportedly really moved to see the five women on set. The show is currently in production, shooting in several locations across Israel.

The “Fauda” team has been criticized for shooting near the Gaza border and simulating October 7-like events that could trigger its residents. The team, however, said they gave locals ample warning about the shoots, and their hope is that shooting on location will help get the story of what happened on that day out into the world.

The fifth season of “Fauda,” which stars French Jewish actress Mélanie Laurent, will air in Israel in early 2026, and hopefully make it to Netflix soon after. In the meantime, the show’s co-creators have a new, very different, project coming to Netflix next month: “Off Road,” a reality show in which star Lior Raz takes a jeep road trip through Asia with his friend and fellow actor Rotem Sela.
