If you’re not sure how to honor the two year anniversary of October 7 this year, which takes place on the first day of Sukkot, you can immerse yourself in harrowing, star-studded TV about the event of that terrible day.
That’s because two different series about the 2023 October 7 attacks, starring Israel’s biggest TV and film icons, are coming to HBO Max and Paramount+ on October 7.
The first show, titled “Sachar Adom” (“Red Dawn”) in Hebrew and “One Day in October” in English, already aired its first four episode season in Israel back on Oct. 7, 2024. Yes TV and Fox Entertainment Studios will air three new episodes in the country this October. This show was created Daniel Finkelman and Oded Davidoff, both prolific TV and film creators.
The show’s stars include Swell Ariel Or (“The Beauty Queen of Jerusalem”), Lior Ashkenazi (“We We Were the Lucky Ones”) and Michael Aloni, who starred in both those shows and as Akiva in the hit show “Shtisel.”
All seven episodes of the show, each of which tell the story of an event or person impacted on that day, will be available in the U.S. on Oct. 7, 2025 on HBO Max.
Unlike “Once Day in October,” “Red Alert,” or “Or Rishon” (“First Light”) in Hebrew, has yet to air in Israel. A production of Keshet Media Group (“Homeland” and “A Small Light”), it will air on both Paramount+ in the U.S. and in Israel on Oct. 7, 2025.
According to a release, its four episodes follow “several civilians whose stories intertwine as they experienced the atrocities of October 7, including Bat Sheva (Rotem Sela, “Beauty and the Baker”), a mother forced to flee with her two daughters as her son is taken into Gaza; Ohad (Miki Leon, “False Flag”), a father who becomes a tragic symbol of sacrifice as he fiercely protects his family; Ayoub (Hisham Suleiman, “Fauda”), a grieving father who loses his wife and is forced to hide with his baby behind enemy lines; Nofar (Chen Amsalem, “PMTA”), a border police officer caught in the massacre and injured while defending others, alongside colleague Liat (Rotem Abuhav, “Kugel”); Kobi (Israel Atias, “The New Black”), an anti-terrorism officer who runs directly into hell to save his wife; and Tali (Sara Vino), a devoted mother who transforms into an unlikely hero while searching for her injured son, Itamar (Nevo Katan, “8200”).
According to David Ellison, the Chairman and CEO of Paramount — a company that recently came out against an Israeli film boycott, arguing that it “does not promote peace” — the show “highlights Paramount’s continued commitment to storytelling through artistic excellence and accuracy. This critical series cinematically captures the horrific terrorism that stunned the world on October 7 with harrowing precision and inspires with these true-life stories of heroism and heartbreak.”
