The Jewish High Holiday season may be over, but now it’s time for another Jewish holiday of sorts: The premiere of season two of “Nobody Wants This,” the Hot Rabbi Netflix Show!
If you’re anything like us, you already know all about this show. It stars Adam Brody as said hot rabbi, Noah Roklov, and Kristen Bell as his non-Jewish (or as the first season of the show prefers to call her, “shiksa!”) podcaster girlfriend, Joanne.
Season two is coming to the streaming platform on Oct. 23, a little under a week away.
Is this a joyous holiday, or a somber fast day? Well, that’s up to you. But like a good (hot??) rabbi, we’re here to hold your hand, help you through it all and give you some accompanying texts. That’s right — this time around, we’ll be going even deeper with our coverage of this wildly popular show!
As many of you know, back in 2024, Kveller launched a Jewish TV Club Substack, because we wanted to be in conversation with all of you about some of the buzziest Jewish TV on air at this moment in time! Now, we’re revamping Jewish TV Club to focus on one big Jewish show at a time, and we’re kicking it off with “Nobody Wants This.”
For the next few weeks, Jewish TV Club will be all Hot Rabbi Show 24/7, in collaboration with our cool younger sister site Hey Alma! (Wait, is one of us Morgan, and the other Joanne? We both really feel like Esthers, tbh.) We’ll be talking about our feelings about the 10 episodes of the show, picking it apart, and having a lot of fun in the process. Surprising no one… we have a lot to say!
We know a lot of you loved last season and just can’t wait for the premiere, and we know a lot of us also had problems with the way Jewish women and Judaism are portrayed in the show, and we are not going to shy away from any of it! There’s be kvelling and kvetching in our club, like in any good Jewish club. We’ll be chatting about the good, the bad, the hot and the Prego!!! of it all, and you know we can’t wait to dive into the fun minute Jewish details that stuck with us, like the braiding on the challah of the Shabbat episode, mezuzah placements and Sasha and Esther’s best outfits.
We hope you’ll follow us on Substack and more than anything we can’t wait to hear your thoughts in the comments!
