Nate Berkus, interior designer, Oprah protegé, and Jewish dad, is here to give advice. Apparently, he knows what the best gift is to get anyone this holiday season. Considering he’s the star of TLC’s Nate & Jeremiah By Design, he kind of knows what he’s talking about.
So, what is it? Art. He says a “framed piece of art makes the best gift — especially when it has a story.” It’s about knowing the person’s style and making it personal.
For instance, for your parents or grandparents, he suggests framing your kid’s art as a thoughtful gift, saying: “How about all that art your child has brought home throughout the year? Why not choose 2 or 3 of your favorite pieces and gift grandparents, aunts, etc.”
Big news! 🎉 I’m excited to announce that I am partnering with @framebridge as their new Creative Advisor. They have the chicest frame options + make custom framing so ridiculously easy…it’s genius, so get your walls ready. Another cool idea? Framing a favorite recipe. Berkus, as you can tell, is a fan of framing anything. “Why not frame your mother’s all-time favorite recipe? Nothing feels more special, or personalized — especially when it’s a go-to dish that is a part of a family tradition.”
When it comes to your partner or spouse, go for a special memory that you enjoyed together:
Let’s be honest, most people have no idea what to do with those travel mementoes we all bring back. Like textiles, menu cards, even hotel keys. Frame that special memory, it’ll make a great gift. Plus, it makes a fun conversation piece.
Everyone, of course, loves a “beautifully framed family photo.” His tip? “Shift them to black and white, for a really elevated look. Especially if you’re thinking of creating a gallery wall.”
Holiday shopping just got a little easier — and more fun this year.
