I had taken a week off from blogging and social media due to surgery required for my hand, which was injured in a car accident two years ago. I am using voice dictation programs, but this particular post is being dictated to Fancy Assistant Brandon, who, as I said after my accident two years ago, is not only literally my right-hand man, but helps fill in the blanks of my brain as well.
Here are the top five funny/amazing/wonderful things that happened in this past week. I write this with full awareness that the situation in Israel remains critical and this post is not meant in any way to detract from the seriousness and intensity of what is going on in Israel, the West Bank, and Gaza. (Here is the most recent post I wrote about the situation.)

I have been taking a social media break due to my surgery last week, but I have of course been following the news and have also seen a lot of the negative and anti-Israel comments on my page over the last weeks. I have decided to use my voice dictation program to dictate a brief post regarding the goings on in Israel.
In light of the discovery of the bodies of the three teenagers kidnapped on June 12, I posted here on Kveller about the unimaginable reality that the mothers of these teenagers must be experiencing. I expressed a desire for peace and I expressed sympathy for the plight of the Palestinian people. I do not believe that there is any excuse for kidnapping and murdering innocent teenagers under the guise of a political movement or any recognized government organization.
The news over the weekend that Jewish extremists burned a Palestinian teenager alive in retribution for the Israeli teens deaths makes me sick to my stomach. There is no excuse. Read more →

Thank you for your support and understanding.

I took a social media break after the heartbreaking news came out yesterday of the gruesome discovery of the bodies of the three teenagers kidnapped in Israel, who were missing since June 12.
I don’t have a lot to say. I don’t understand politics. I don’t understand what it must be like to lose a child simply because they were coming home from school and someone decided it was a courageous and admirable political act to kidnap, murder them, and leave them in an open field.
I looked at my sons as they went to bed last night and I thought of the mothers who spent their lives tucking their boys in, and making them lunch, and bandaging cut knees, and holding them when they had their feelings hurt. I thought of their dreams for their sons to marry and become fathers and tuck their own children in. Heartbreak. That must be what it feels like to lose your son like this: like having your heart broken. Read more →

In case you haven’t gotten enough of the “Blossom” reunion on the internet, on Kveller, or elsewhere, I wanted to share some behind the scenes pictures from my “Blossom” days. “Blossom” is returning to Hub TV Monday, July 7. Hopefully, these will jog your memory in the best way and not make you feel old!
1. Me, Joey, and Jenna at my high school graduation celebration on set.
My mom arranged for a little graduation “party” for me on set when I graduated from high school in real life. That’s our beloved director Bill Bixby behind me and Jenna. Read more →

The four of us (me, Jenna, Joey, and Michael) had not all been together in just about 20 years. Michael, Jenna, and I had done an appearance on the TV show “‘Til Death” maybe five years ago, but Joey was not involved in that. Joey and I did an Old Navy commercial a few years ago, and Jenna and I have been communicating, largely about breast feeding and being moms, since her daughter was born two years ago. We even wrote a joint post about our relationship and on her website, The Cradle Chronicles. Michael and I were always very close and I’ll admit he was always my favorite! He and I have gotten together here and there over the years and more recently, we’ve socialized more.
In some ways, the four of us grew up together. When “Blossom” started, I was 14, Joey was 13, Jenna was 12, and Michael was, as he likes to say, “older.” We spent five years together on a set which meant that we saw each other more than we saw our families or our outside friends. We had in-jokes aplenty and we were together for some very important years of our development. Getting back together this way was like one big social party. We joked a lot, Joey did impressions of Johnny Carson and Jon Lovitz which made me laugh just as it always did. Jenna remembers a lot of funny stuff that I have forgotten and Michael remains the person who makes me laugh the most with the wisest insight about everything it seems. We have not had cause to be together this way in 20 years and I don’t think an informal get together would have produced the same kind of hilarity as filming these promos for Hub Network did. This was simply how it all evolved for us to get back together and I am grateful for it! Read more →

I cried when Gilad Shalit was released after five years in captivity by Hamas. I posted pictures of him all over my dressing room door at “The Big Bang Theory.” The unimaginable impossibility of someone’s son being a prisoner for five years tore me up inside as a mother in a way few stories have since I became a mother. He ate schnitzel the first night home. The country sold out of schnitzel after they heard through the press that that was what Gilad ate for dinner. That’s Israel.
The kidnapping of three teenagers–not soldiers; teenagers–last week in Israel has been on my mind constantly. My posts about other things (“Blossom” reunions, or how cute my hairless cat is) should not detract from this ongoing crisis or its significance. It has been on my mind all of the time.
I have been weighing how to comment on it since it happened. There are so many haters of Israel on the internet and so many racists, to be quite honest, who send me disgusting hateful horrible things about what a horrible person I am because I am Jewish and believe in the right of the State of Israel to exist (also known as Zionism). I shouldn’t read those (or any!) comments, and it shouldn’t bother me, but it does. And I don’t want to start a fight on Facebook or allow a fight on my Facebook page about if Israel has the right to exist (it does and has to and always will) or if kidnapping innocent teenagers and holding them hostage is a political statement (um…it’s not; it’s terrorism). My ex and I did something significant this past week. Last Friday, to be exact. Really big. Like super duper big. It may have changed our sons’ lives even more than our divorce did. I mean, I could be wrong, but I could be right. Want to know what we did?
We showed them the first “Star Wars” movie.
I know. I know! I KNOW! It’s HUGE. Read more →

You asked for it, you got it. Not that I had anything to do with it….but… “Blossom” is coming to HUB TV!
The show has never formally been in syndication even though it ran for five years and people liked it and all of that jazz. Shout Factory released the first and second seasons on DVD, but never released seasons 3, 4, or 5, so our little show sort of fell into a black hole it seemed.
Well, now you can watch all of my humiliating coming-of-age stories and fashion styles from 1990-1994 from the comfort of your very own home! You can watch me go from gangly 14-year-old to gangly 19-year-old. You can see my first kiss (with Stephen Dorff) and you can see me kiss Johnny Galecki, too. It’s all such good times when it’s not you watching yourself be awkward and gangly, right? Enjoy! Read more →
