Elizabeth Taylor is a legend. The Jewish actress (yes, she converted) was a style icon and beloved actress. As someone who loves vintage and retro fashion, Taylor is definitely one of my fashion heroes (#StyleGoals, anyone?), which is why I love the fact that a rare video of her putting on makeup found its way to the internet.
Before the age of Instagram and selfies and #TBT, Taylor was a master makeup artist. Mario Dedivanovic, a celebrity makeup artist, recently posted a #TBT video of Taylor applying her eye makeup, stating with the caption:
“She did that eye in seconds with that tiny brush. Shadow, crease, and liner. Boom👏.”
I mean, did you really think that she woke up with the best bedroom eyes naturally? (Hey, I’d love for cat-eyeliner to just magically appear when I wake up everyday.) According to iconic makeup artist, chemist, and Gállány beauty founder Ida Gàl-Csiszar, Taylor also made her eye balls look extra white by smudging on a deep indigo shadow to do so. Gàl-Csiszar explains why:
“Blue is on the opposite side of the color wheel and balances a red eye.”
