The Latke Who Couldn’t Stop Screaming: A Christmas Story By Lemony Snicket

Buy This Book

Don’t be afraid of the title–this is very much a book for Hanukkah! With biting wit, this book explores the challenges we all face as “the holiday season” rolls around. A runaway latke leaps from a frying pan to avoid being eaten, but when he tries (loudly) to explain to the Christian world–in the form of a Christmas tree, a string of lights, and a candy cane–that he has nothing to do with Christmas (“Maybe you can be served alongside a Christmas ham”) he becomes increasingly frustrated. In the end, the latke finds his place in the world, and ends up as all good latkes should.
