Photos of the Israeli Like Baby have been released today, and if you need help understanding that sentence, read on.
Israeli couple Lior and Vardit Adler really, really want you to like their baby. They also wanted to give their newborn daughter a really, really unique name. So, instead of flipping through a baby name book or our wonderful Jewish baby name finder, they turned to the most natural of really, really inspirational naming devices: Facebook.
Thus, the Like baby.
I don’t really know what to say. I mean, a baby named Like is, like, really weird, right? I guess that’s what they were going for, as expressed by the husband’s disappointment that the hospital clerk who recorded the baby’s name did not seem shocked or appalled at their decision.
The couple have made it clear that they chose this name not as a gimmick and they aren’t receiving an endorsement from Facebook. They just genuinely like the meaning behind the name. Er, they “like” it.
Little girl Like joins two older sisters, Dvash (which means honey in hebrew) and Pie (which is a delicious food). I guess it could have been weirder. The couple originally considered naming the baby Qing Yu Lang for no apparent reason. Like has spurred a rash of Facebook baby name jokes (she couldn’t have been named News Feed? Or It’s Complicated?) and we fully welcome your input below. I for one think Status has a lovely ring.
