Mayim Bialik’s Most Popular Posts of 2012

As 2012 comes to an end, we’re looking back at the most popular posts from Mayim’s blog this year. Take a walk down memory lane with us as we count down the top five posts that got the most people clicking, and be sure to check out the year’s most popular posts from Raising Kvell while you’re at it.

5. I’ve Never Shaved My Legs, So What?

Even at 14, Mayim was a “feisty feminist” who decided not shave her body hair because it, “Seemed like a waste of time, a conformity that disgusted me… and an opportunity for blood where it was just not at all necessary. “

4. Taking a Major Break from Facebook So I Don’t Have a Major Breakdown

Due to commenters who questioned her level of tznius (modesty), Mayim announced that she would need a major break from Facebook, declaring, “For those of you who may not think of me as a real person, I want to remind you that I am. Even the least sensitive person would probably start to crack under this kind of week.”

3. Mayim to Alicia Silverstone & January Jones: You’re Not Gross!

Mayim looked out for fellow celebrity mamas who were publicly bashed for some of their parenting choices, such as “bird-feeding” and eating placenta. She reminds us, “Let’s reserve judgment for people who beat their children, sell their daughters into prostitution, or deny women the right to make decisions about their bodies and their lives.”

2. My “Controversial” Book is Still Pissing People Off

Months after her book Beyond the Sling was released, people were still talking about some of the “controversial” details, like Howard Stern who wanted to talk about not using diapers. The take away? “I am thrilled Howard Stern and The Today Show and all of these uptight doctors who clearly missed out on one or another class on breastfeeding or oxytocin or anthropology are talking about me, because I am not a freak.”

1. I Had an Accident & Thank God I’m Okay

In August, Mayim was involved in a serious car crash, telling us, “I am a deeply religious person who used prayer and deep breathing to keep me going all the way from the accident to the ER to surgery 6 hours later, no medication until surgery.” We were all very glad to learn that she was okay.

**Honorable mention goes to “Divorce Statement from Mayim Bialik,” which crashed Kveller.com within two minutes of posting**
