Everyone loves Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive.” It’s a song you hear at weddings, graduations, and bar mitzvahs–it’s one of those anthems that will get you through the good and bad times. With the inauguration coming up in just a few days, this song could not be more pertinent and timely.
Because of this, celebrities like Natalie Portman, Hailee Steinfeld, Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, and so many more, performed a re-imagination of the song for W Magazine. As Andrew Garfield warned, “This is going to be interesting, guys. It may get too real.”
Sad thing is, he IS right. It does get too real, but it’s also a reminder many people need that we will survive, despite how terrible and hard it may be, despite feeling as if you can’t go on, can’t go through what feels like a million tests of your heart, mind, and spirit. Because we can, and will.
