Getting pregnant is not always easy, which is why things like artificial insemination is an incredibly wonderful way technology actually makes our lives better. Of course, there are drawbacks to the process, including the fact that it can feel very clinical and it’s also super expensive. Not all couples can afford it. So, one entrepreneur found a solution to the problem: an ejaculating dildo.
The dildo, while amazing, also has the worst name possible: It’s called the Semenette. It’s basically trying to make semen sound cute (which, I hate to say, is just not possible). Regardless of names, however, the awesome device was created by Stephanie Berman after she and her wife tried to conceive a few times, and felt the whole thing was wildly unsexy, according to YourTango. She stated:

“When it came time for my wife and I to start the process, I quickly realized how few ideal options there were for us to conceive at home. We didn’t have the financial means, or the desire, to have a doctor inseminate my wife—but the only things available to us were either a turkey baster or needle-less syringe. And yes, people really do use turkey basters!
After making a few attempts at home, we were both really unfulfilled by the experience. It was so impersonal, not romantic and just outright awful! I wanted more for us, and that’s when the idea for The Semenette began. I did a lot of research and finally had a working prototype my wife and I were able to use and try out. What a difference a dildo makes!”
This kind of device is especially helpful for lesbian couples, transgender people, men with erectile problems or disabilities, couples where one member has HIV and the other does not, and really, anyone who just wants one. Apparently, it’s been selling successfully, too.
And it’s how Berman and her wife conceived their daughter. We hope other couples find success with it too, because if there’s a way to make getting pregnant easier (and more romantic), we’re all about it.
