Watch This Dad Perfectly Explain Why You Shouldn’t Tell a Breastfeeding Mom to Cover Up

It’s tiring hearing about moms who get criticized and slammed for breastfeeding in public. Sometimes, when I see those posts, I feel like it’s 1956, not 2016. Isn’t it absurd asking a mom to “cover up” with a blanket that just gets in the way?

Well, this is why dad Brock Smith recently made a parody video of himself with a cover over his head (ghost chic, anyone?)–illustrating how bizarre and crazy this request is–all so moms aren’t being “offensive.” The video was shared on the Facebook page Breastfeeding Mama Talk, and has currently gotten about 150,000 views.

Smith told the group that he made the video as a dad who watches his wife deal with this:

“As a dad and a husband…I’ve had enough of this asinine argument. D Lauren Smith and I are starting a movement…Just sayin.”

His video is on-point from the start, as he tells the audience:

“I wish I didn’t have to eat with a blanket over my head.”

He goes on to say:

“For people to be ignorant enough to harass a mother trying to have a normal life while breastfeeding a child just infuriates us.”

Finally, right? There is nothing wrong with breastfeeding in public. There is no reason to apologize for being a mom, for having a baby, for breastfeeding, for having a female body. If anything, other people should mind their own business.
