What It’s Like Being a Woman in Different Countries Around the World

What is it actually like to be a woman around the world? Depending on where you live, a woman’s life is drastically different. For instance, in some countries, like China, women are pressured to get married by the time they are 30–where in others, like Sweden, women are encouraged to pave their own careers.

Elite Daily recently put a video together that highlights some fascinating facts about the lives of women around the world. Here are some of the highlights, from the disturbing to the inspiring.

Sweden is the second best country for working women.

In India, Muslim men are allowed to divorce their wives instantly and without their consent–and not pay financial support.

In Guatemala, two women are killed everyday because of domestic violence.

The U.S. is the only developed country without paid maternity leave.
