Anti-Semitism is a real problem. Yes, even in 2016, it’s an issue–and one that many people just don’t want to see.
Anti-Semitism has been on the rise since the beginning of the year–and many incidents are happening on college campuses. According to the Observer, a recent study using over 100 institutions discovered that between January through June of 2016, 287 anti-Semitic incidents occurred at 64 schools, compared to 198 incidents that took place during the same time last year–this indicates a 45% increase.
This tense political climate is precisely why I rounded up some of my favorite quotes from Jewish celebrities, writers, and moms who had something to say about the growing anti-Semitism just from this past year alone. It’s important to stand together–and we can do that first by using our words to connect with each other.
Here are some of my favorites:
Mara Wilson tweeted this from her Twitter account this past November post-election.
Regina Spektor was quoted as saying this when talking about what it was like growing up in Russia in an interview.
Emmy Rossum tweeted this the day after the election this November.
This quote comes from Mayim Bialik’s “An Open Letter to Haters,” an article she wrote on Grok Nation.
Jennifer Weiner tweeted this this past November.
