An Inside Peek at Stuart Weitzman’s Incredible Shoe Collection

Would you buy a pair of $500 heels for your husband?

Jane Weitzman would. In fact, she purchased more than 100 pairs of elegant shoes for her husband — who is none other than Stuart Weitzman, one of the most prolific and successful shoe designers in recent decades. (He has adorned the feet of a host of celebrities, from Aretha Franklin to Gigi Hadid.)

In April, the New York Historical Society opened the “Walk This Way: Footwear from the Stuart Weitzman Collection of Historical Shoes” — a drool-worthy collection of contemporary and vintage shoes that are on display until the first week of October.

Kveller was lucky to have Jane Weitzman (who is on the Board of Directors of our parent company, 70 Faces Media) guide us through the exhibit, sharing incredible details about the collection, which includes a reproduction of an original pair of diamond-crusted shoes and a vintage pair designed by Seymour Weitzman, Stuart’s father.
