Kate Kort was born in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1985. She studied English and world literature at Truman State University. She has published two novels on mental health. Laika was named a finalist for the 2018 Next Generation Indie Book Award in two categories: Young New Fiction, and Second Novel, and a finalist for American Book Fest’s 2018 Best Book Award. She currently lives in a suburb of Portland, Oregon, with her husband and three children.
