Daniel Radcliffe Is Now a Jewish Dad

You're a daddy, Harry!

Last month, we discovered that Jewish star Daniel Radcliffe, 33, was expecting his first child with longtime girlfriend Erin Darke, 38. We didn’t know when the baby would be due, but according to recent paparazzi shots, baby Radcliffe Darke is here!

Radcliffe was seen walking with his stroller, or pram, if you’re fancy (or British), in the streets of New York’s West Village this week, donning a face mask, a dad hat from Nova Scotia’s the Shore Club, a “The Thermals” band shirt and the traditional sneaker, hoodie and jeans combo (yes, you too can now emulate Radcliffe’s new dad uniform).

A video shows Radcliffe doing the traditional side to side stroller slalom dance to calm a restless baby. While I don’t dig invading new parents’ privacy, I do love seeing some representation for this common NYC parent move.

He was seen walking with Darke, who was wearing some pretty cool shades and orange boots, and had both a Trader Joe’s tote and a fanny pack, because when you’re parenting, you can never have too many bags.

In case you’re wondering, the stroller the family chose is a Babyzen YOYO, and the baby is currently in the age-appropriate bassinet attachment. The pricey French travel stroller is great for airplane travel, assuming Radcliffe intends to visit his family in the UK (or Darke’s family in Michigan), and the little babe appears to be covered in a muslin cloth to shield them from onlookers and the sun.

We don’t currently know the sex or name of the baby, and since Darke and Radcliffe are pretty private about their personal lives, we doubt they’ll share much information about the newborn.

Last month, Radcliffe, who most recently starred in “Weird: The Al Yankovic Story” with iconic Jewish mom Evan Rachel Wood, filmed a video for the Trevor Project’s Sharing Space, a roundtable with queer, trans and nonbinary youth — talking about their identities and lived experience. Seeing him listening to these kids definitely shows he has what it takes to be a great, present dad, but it’s also an important show of allyship at a scary time for trans youth across the nation.

Mazel tov to the lovely couple, and welcome to the jaddy club, Dan! We’re so glad you’re finally a member.
