Joan Rivers’ Posthumous Grammy Win Was Bittersweet

In case you missed it last night, the late Joan Rivers won the Grammy for Best Spoken Word Album for the reading of her last memoir: Diary of a Mad Diva. Since its release in July 2014, the book has received critical acclaim for its brazen, no-holds-barred wit that is occasionally hard to swallow and everything you’d expect from the no-nonsense “Fashion Police” star.

Rivers‘ daughter, Melissa, accepted the award on Joan’s behalf. She described the moment as “bittersweet,” in an exclusive interview with E!

Fellow comedian Kathy Griffin was pumped, joyously tweeting about the news.

Joan Rivers passed away tragically in September 2014 from complications during throat surgery. Her daughter is currently entrenched in filing a multimillion dollar wrongful death lawsuit against her surgeons.
