RECIPE: Chocolate Covered Strawberries for an Easy Hanukkah Treat

I know lots of people who like to get a little zany or fancy with the food for their Hanukkah celebrations. But sometimes simple, tried and true treats are the ones that are the biggest crowd pleasers for your guests, and the easiest to prepare for you, the host.

Last year instead of standing for hours in my kitchen frying up donuts, we bought some. And for a simple sweet treat I made a pretty batch of chocolate covered strawberries doused in a festive dusting of Hanukkah sprinkles. (For more on sprinkles, check out my post on where to buy them here).

They look fancy, but they are so easy, even your kids can make them while you pour yourself a healthy glass of wine cup of coffee.

INGREDIENTS

1 pint strawberries, washed and dried well

12 oz dark, semi sweet or milk chocolate

1 Tbsp vegetable oil

Blue and white sprinkles

DIRECTIONS

In a glass or microwave-safe bowl, place chocolate and vegetable oil. Melt for 20-30 intervals, mixing in between each time until chocolate is completely melted and smooth. Be careful not to burn.

Dip each strawberry in chocolate and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

While chocolate is still wet, top with sprinkles. Pop in fridge for 30 minutes to set completely.
