Stephanie Wittels Wachs Names Baby After Her Brother, ‘Parks and Rec’ Writer Harris Wittels

Stephanie Wittels Wachs’ powerful memoir Everything Is Horrible and Wonderful: A Tragicomic Memoir of Genius, Heroin, Love and Loss — about the death of her comedian brother, Harris Wittels, of Parks and Recreation fame  — ends on hopeful note: “Mike [my husband] and I are trying to have another baby. There’s nothing more hopeful than that, right? When it happens, if it happens, we will name the baby after the boy who hung the moon: Harris.”

Last month, when Kveller spoke with a very pregnant Wachs about her book and naming her future son after Harris, she told us, “We’ve really gone back and forth about it, because on the one hand, you know, here’s a person who was the most incredible, phenomenal, spirited… just exceptional human being, anybody would be lucky to have this person as their namesake. On the other hand, there’s a lot of pain and tragedy that’s wrapped up in that name, and so it has been something we have talked a lot about.”

This weekend, Wachs took to Instagram to announce the birth of her adorable son. His name? Harrison Jules Wachs.

Don’t mind us crying over here. Mazel tov, Stephanie and family!
