‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ Renewed for Season 3

Mrs. Maisel is coming back, again! The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, a very funny Jewish show, was just renewed for a third season — and that’s before a premiere date has even been set for season 2.

Amazon Studios announced the show’s renewal this weekend. It may seem premature (just like season 2, which was picked up after only the pilot aired) but, like everyone else, Amazon is clearly loving Mrs. Maisel.

Season 2 is set to premiere later this year, with the opening episode reportedly taking place in Paris.

“Something that we’ll be exploring in Season 2 is Midge’s three very distinctly different worlds,” star Rachel Brosnahan told IndieWire. “She’s a mother and a daughter and a wife…ish. By the time we leave her at the end of Season 1, she’s a working woman with a job, and she’s also trying her hand at stand-up comedy. And those three worlds, they don’t work together very well. So I look forward to watching her struggle to maintain those three different identities simultaneously.”

Alex Borstein, who plays Midge’s manager, explained the success of the show to Deadline: “I think it’s good timing, just because the world’s such a downer right now. It’s the most depressing time to be alive, and this is an optimistic show.”

Looking ahead, we’re excited to see Midge attempt to balance her very separate identities. (TV characters, they’re just like us!) And maybe this even means that we’ll see the very marvelous Mrs. Maisel become a bit less of a “terrible mom.”
