Dads learning ballet is kind of the best mental image ever, isn’t it? Well, now it’s no longer an image in your head, but in real life and on the internet. This is because a dance school in Philadelphia invited parents to join their kids’ classes this week, as a way to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
The school asked moms to participate in students’ hip hop classes on the day before or after Valentine’s Day, while dads were invited to spend the evening of Febuary 14th dancing ballet with their daughters. Just reading that alone should warm your hearts. Of course, seeing it may just melt it completely.
Thankfully, the Philadelphia Dance Center posted videos and photos of the night to their Facebook page as a way to share and spread the love. Within days, a video of dads stumbling to “Waltz of the Flowers” from Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker Suite” earned upwards of 12 million views.
Another video was posted too, which has been viewed more than 500,000 times, shows dads learning how to pirouette across the floor:
After receiving such a positive response from Facebook users, Philadelphia Dance Center posted a message of love and thanks to its Facebook Page:
In a time of political strife and turmoil, it’s a much-needed break to see such encouraging and heartwarming news. It is the necessary reminder we all need that kindness and happiness still lingers even in the darkest places.
