In a time where women’s rights seem to be getting cut (hey maternity leave and health care), any bit of feminism and girl power I can get is so appreciated. This is why I love the new empowering t-shirts for girls currently on sale over at The Children’s Place. The collection is filed under the “#GirlPower Shop” section on their website, and it couldn’t be more aptly titled. Of course, buying t-shirts with a slogan isn’t exactly activism, but it can be a fun way to promote positivity, especially if you’re looking for a springtime gift for a young woman in your life.
As someone who grew up as an intense nerd–and is now a very proud aunt of many tiny humans (and godmother)–I can’t help but love this. I wish 10-year-old me was able to wear a shirt that said “Smart Girls Rule” or “Smart Is The New Pretty,” so I’d feel less alienated from my classmates who tried to emulate Britney Spears (because I looked so Wednesday Adams. Still do).
But don’t worry, moms, you aren’t forgotten either, with shirt slogans like “Fabulous Smart Flawless Like My Mom” and “I Got It From My Mama.” The best part? The shirts are on sale right now, some as low $5.25 each. Who doesn’t love a good bargain?!
