Twin Babies Fly 17 Hours to Surprise Grandma

It’s always bittersweet when members of your family move away, as it typically means it’s for a job, a relationship, or an exciting adventure. While there is FaceTime and Skype (and the opportunity to visit new places), it’s never the same as just being able to hang out “IRL.” That’s why it’s such a monumental moment for some grandparents when they meet their grandchildren for the first time.

New Zealanders Alex and Paula recently took their 6-month-old twin girls on a 17 hour flight to the U.S. to surprise Alex’s parents. The twins were also the first girls to be born in Alex’s family in 54 years. That’s a long time. You can imagine how loved and special Alex’s parents felt–and you don’t have to imagine too hard, because they filmed the meeting. And it’s basically the best thing ever.

Alex’s mom had no idea they were coming, so her utter surprise was not only genuine, but it’s adorable to watch. She was so overcome with happiness, she began to cry. For a moment, it seems like she’s not sure which baby to hold first. No one has ever looked more in love.

But enough of my gushing, watch the video for yourself below:
