Aly Raisman and Her Mom Star In New Swimsuit Campaign

No doubt that Jewish-American Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman is one of our biggest role models.

But she’s also one of four #AerieReal Role Models, meaning the gold medalist is the “face” of the lingerie and swimwear brand.

Raisman stars in Aerie’s latest campaign along with — wait for it — her mom.

In a new campaign timed for Mother’s Day, Raisman brought her mom, Lynn, and younger sister, Chloe, to the set with her. (You may remember her mom’s famously anxious lean while watching Raisman compete in the 2016 Rio Olympics.)

The entire campaign is structured around the tagline, “They got it from their mama!”

Raisman told Glamour that her mom and sister “did such a great job of just being confident in their own skin,” she said. “The whole day was all about having fun rather than what we looked like, as everyday should be!”

Raisman joined Aerie in November 2017, with the goal to “help break down stereotypes.” As she told Glamour, “When I was younger, people told me muscles weren’t seen as girly. I look back and regret worrying so much about what those boys in my class thought of me.”

Since then, she designed a one-piece swimsuit for the brand. All the profits go to Darkness to Light, an organization dedicated to preventing child sexual abuse.

Raisman has spoken about how her mom has been a constant source of strength — Raisman asked her to come with her to the Larry Nassar sentencing. “Having my mom there for me makes me feel so much better — she always has my back,” she said. “People will not always support you along the way, so having my mom there [in court] meant a lot to me.”

“I’m proud and appreciative that my mom is so passionate about fixing this disaster that happened,” she added. “She is helping us put the pieces together.”

What a special way to celebrate Mother’s Day.
